Cherub is a display typeface designed to be short, stout, and voluptuous. It is anchored by a thick stroke width and thin, rounded counter forms, appearing so heavy in print that its serifs become compressed. Cherubim are angelic beings attending directly to god, often depicted as portly children with wings. While their effervescence undoubtedly influenced the design, this typeface looks too heavy to take flight.
● 52 Characters, upper and lower case

Letters were drawn by hand, then made digital. Initially designed alongside at least eight potential typefaces, I built Cherub into a complete typeface because of its playfulness and chunky attitude.
